I watched a video the other day. In it, a high school student said that she didn't have a dream and that she was worried about it. Personally, I think there is no need to worry even if we don't have a dream. I would like to explain why.
What role does a dream play in our life? It is to make our life meaningful. Our life can be meaningful when we make it a story. A story must have a beginning, a middle and an end. When you have a dream, it serves as an end of our life story. Therefore, it allows us to make our life a coherent story and then meaningful.
If this is true, we don't have to have a dream. A function that one thing performs can be fulfilled by another. So, the role dreams play of making our life meaningful can be performed by other things as well. Taking care of others is one of them. Eating your favourite food and relishing it is also one of them. After all, life is what you make out of it. So you can choose how you make your life meaningful, but please be noted that having a dream is nothing but one option.
